What it's like living here

The Valley is a great neighbourhood with plenty of choice for authentic exotic culinary fares, trendy bars and nightclubs and one train station away from the city centre. The building itself is a piece of Brisbane Art Deco architectural history. The lofts within have very high ceilings and huge façade windows flooding the living spaces with light, meaning one never feel cramped and trapped in the way some apartments may make you feel. It is an old but healthy building that has been standing for close to a 150 years. In the Australian context, this is perhaps the closest thing to living in an old medieval European castle! The community is very cosmopolitan, of all ages and all walk of life, making the place a buzzy and friendly community. The rooftop garden is a great place to relax for a drink in the evening or practice yoga in the morning with great 360 views on the surrounding valley and the story bridge.

I moved to this building three years ago and absolutely love it!! every time someone steps into the walkways and foyers they can’t believe the space we have inside. With landscaped gardens and a massive rooftop with sitting, eating and lounging areas with a BBQ that could cook for several families. The units are so spacious with 4m ceilings everything feels like you have the space to do anything. The kitchens are full size kitchens something most apartment kitchens miss. Even the 1 bedroom apartments feel super spacious. The people who live here are super friendly and there is a sense of community about the building, everyone says hello, there is a gardening club that looks after the community gardens, a bubs group is getting started this is a great place to call home. Within the new high school catchment it’s a winner each way.

I have lived in McWhirters for 18 years and loved every moment of it. From the moment I first visited, I knew that this was home. I love being close to everything… I have never needed a car here!
